Wayne County Fishing Report
Streams-Plenty of steelhead action in Maxwell Creek. The flow is rapid and you need at least 10-15 pound test line for spin casting. The hook-ups are the easy part...getting the fish to shore is a challenge. Some smart anglers were fishing near the mouth where the water is slow. This is actually called Maxwell Bay.
Just steelhead from the creeks before they make the trip to the lake. Use torpedo bobbers. All the streams are running with an excellent flow of water.
Bays- There is still ice on the bays, however the shoreline is breaking-up. Don't take any chances...the ice season is over. There are too many incidences of anglers fallen though ice in March. Go stream fishing.
Canal-The ice is too soggy on the canal. Wait till it leaves, then fish the Widewaters area for spring crappies.
