Salmon River Report 9/6/16
Over the holiday weekend we had a mix of groups staying in the motel who came up to fish both the river and the lake. We did have the water release this weekend and several anglers came up to take advantage of the increased flow. Anglers staying in the motel who fished the lower end of the river reported seeing 1, 2 or none and we did not speak with any anglers who landed fish. Anglers reported that over the weekend the water clarity was off color with the higher water. After the water level dropped for Labor Day anglers reported that the visibility improved and they did see a few more fish.
In the morning we fished the lake and landed several kings while trolling with Pro-Troll Flashers/A-Tom-Mik flies. The LOC Derby finished up today and a 34lb king salmon was the grand prize winner. It also had 13 kings entered that were bigger then last years winner. With the fish looking healthy and some bigger fish being caught it should be exciting when these fish enter the river.
