Apr 17, 2014 - If you were looking to venture down into the gorge and chase some trout, the good news is that the stairs at the Whirlpool and Devil’s Hole state parks are now open after the nasty winter that doesn’t want to go away. It was closed down for nearly a month due to safety concerns.

Apr 9, 2014 - At Burt Dam and 18 Mile Creek, Greg Stanley at All in the Same Boat Tackle Shop in Newfane reports high and muddy conditions. They were catching fish prior to the rain. In addition to egg presentations, small jigs tipped with a wax worm was another option.

Apr 3, 2014 - Lake Ontario and tributaries – Local creeks like 18 Mile, Keg and 4 Mile were all producing some nice trout all week despite some high and stained conditions. Pink or red colored egg sacs, egg imitations or small white jigs tipped with a wax worm are good approaches for taking steelhead and brown trout at Burt Dam according to Greg Stanley at All in the Same Boat in Newfane

Mar 27, 2014 - Burt Dam and 18 Mile Creek has been a good place to be, with egg sacs, single eggs or jigs fished under a float and tipped with a wax worm the best approach. White has been a good color to start with. Steelhead is the primary focus, but there might be a few browns around.
